Microsoft has announced new product names for the Office 365 suite
of Business plans. These name changes came into effect on 21st April
and are listed below:
• Office 365 Business Essentials is now Microsoft 365 Business
Basic
• Office 365 Business Premium is now Microsoft 365 Business
Standard
• Microsoft 365 Business is now Microsoft 365 Business Premium
• Office 365 Business is now Microsoft 365 Apps for business
• Office 365 ProPlus is now Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise
These changes are name changes only. The products
themselves and their pricing remains the same.
There is no change to Microsoft’s Enterprise plans so Office
365 E1, E3 and E5 remain the same, as do their academic versions
(A1, A3 & A5) and government versions (G1, G3 & G5) names.
The good news is there is nothing you need to do. Apart from familiarising
yourself with the new names!
Why is Microsoft making these name changes?
The new names are intended to show that the Office suite of products
now has more to it than just their traditional Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint products. The product range now includes apps like Teams,
Stream, Forms and Planner.
Microsoft also claim that the name change will help to simplify
things.
