Working from home.

Is this the new normal?

Most business owners think that remote working is the future, according to a recent report.

The report found that office workers have handled the transition to remote working very well and that more than half of them feel that they are more productive than before. Two-thirds expect some form of remote working to continue for at least another three months. And most of them would not be surprised if remote working continued for another six months.

These findings only go to show how successful remote working has been for most companies and their employees. For the majority of businesses the transition to remote working has been surprisingly smooth. This is largely due to the availability of reliable and effective remote working solutions.

Is your business ready for home working to continue long term?

With some form of lockdown continuing for the foreseeable future has your business got a robust remote working solution in place? Or have you cobbled together a temporary fix, hoping it will keep your business running for a few weeks or so until we get back to normal? But the truth is that could be a long time.

Is your temporary solution secure? Will it resist hackers and malware? Are your employees frustrated with system glitches, response time lags and the inability to access all the documents they need?

Reportedly the UK government wants remote working to continue after lockdown is eased. Is it time for your business to upgrade to a purpose-built remote working system? Keeping your business systems safe and secure. And increasing productivity through shared applications and a secure environment for online meetings.

Microsoft Remote Desktop Services is an excellent remote working solution. It allows your employees to access your business applications wherever they are.

Microsoft Teams provides a chat-based communication tool, document sharing, and online meetings, with the option of using it to replace your phone system too!

With these two secure and reliable systems in place, your employees can carry on working just as if they were in the office. Your customers will not even know that your staff are not working from company premises.

Two Factor Authentication

Two Factor Authentication – Protecting your Business Systems

Security firms are reporting a big increase in the number of cyber attacks targeting remote users during the Coronavirus pandemic.

If you or your employees are accessing business systems from home you should invest in some form of two-factor authentication system to protect your business from cyber attack. A password, even a strong password, is not enough.

What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) provides an additional layer of security so that access to your systems does not rely on passwords alone.

A 2FA solution helps protect your systems because it verifies the user's identity. The user verifies their identity by responding to a message sent to their smartphone. Access is denied until this message has been acted on.

Passwords are notoriously easy to crack. Especially as research shows that most people use simple passwords like ‘12345’ or their pet's name! And they never change them! Hackers have many tools available to crack passwords, even complex ones, so relying on password security alone is not recommended.

Two Factor Authentication, or 2FA, helps to address the vulnerabilities of password-only access. Especially for users logging in remotely over the Internet, and Office 365 users.

We supply several 2FA solutions which can help to protect your users and your business. Even if your password has been compromised. If you would like more information about this, get in touch.
