Welcome to our second newsletter of 2019.

In this edition we share the latest news on Microsoft Teams, the new integrated business communications platform. Microsoft Teams now incorporates Skype for Business. And much more!

And we are delighted to announce that the CNC web portal and website have been given a refresh! Making them easier to use and providing some useful new features for our clients. These include improved Contact Management and easier access to contracts and renewals. Read on to find out more.

Microsoft Teams - Integrated Business Communications

Replacing Skype for Business

Microsoft Teams is the teamwork hub in Office 365. It brings together people, conversations and content. And it has all the tools that teams need for effective collaborative working.

Microsoft Teams also provides an integrated dashboard. Messaging, meetings, project management, file sharing and essential applications can all be viewed easily, together in one place.

Why Move to Microsoft Teams?

  • A single hub allows you to host audio, video, and web meetings. And to chat with teams inside or outside your organisation.

  • Collaborate more easily
  • Co-author and share files on popular Office 365 applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, SharePoint and Power BI.

  • Integrate applications from Microsoft and third-party companies to improve teamwork and productivity in your workplace.

  • Meetings
  • Audio Conferencing in Office 365 allows participants to join your Teams meetings from any computer or telephone.

What about Skype for Business?

Over time Microsoft Teams will replace Skype for Business as the primary business communication and collaboration tool. It already has the same functionality as Skype for Business.

CNC Portal and Website Refresh!

The update of our portal and website represents a significant improvement in the way that our customers can interact with us online.

Improvements include:

  • Enhanced Look and Feel
  • A more modern, fresh appearance and user experience makes the whole site easier to navigate and to read.

  • Support Emails
  • You can now control which types of email you receive from our support team. You can even turn them all off if you'd like to. (Please don't!)

  • Contract & Renewal Information
  • This is displayed in an easier to read format with both the contract expiry and invoice periods, along with the ability to email yourself a copy. Very helpful for working out your annual IT costs.

  • Service Requests
  • There is an enhanced search function and a quick link to process starters and leavers.

  • Contact Management - Major Improvements
  • We have introduced three new levels of contact. You can now have the following Contact types:

    • Main Contact - Currently available and the highest level of contact. Effectively able to manage the account and authorise change and expenditure.
    • Supervisor - NEW - can raise service requests on behalf of delegate users.
    • Support - Currently available and allows a user to log a service request for themselves.
    • Delegate - NEW - can only have a service request raised by a supervisor or by a main contact on their behalf.

There are several additional fields, including one that allows you to nominate someone as an HR user. An HR user can process leavers and starters, without having Main Contact privileges.

You can also specify which Contact is present for review meetings and who should receive daily Service Request updates and reports.

  • Leavers & Starters
  • This can now be done online by selecting a leaver from the list and completing some questions online. The same is true for new starters.

  • Portal Documents
  • This contains a list of useful troubleshooting and setup documents. Watch out for our training videos which are coming soon!

  • Sales Invoices
  • Copies of sales invoices can be downloaded.
