As part of Microsoft’s Modern Lifecycle Policy, the Company is ending all active support for Windows 10 on October 14th, 2025.
From that date forward, Windows 10 will be the final version of Windows 10. This means no more free updates, assisted tech support and, no more new security features for any kind of vulnerabilities.

Remember the film ‘Men In Black’, when Will Smith is told that “this will be the last suit you’ll ever wear”? Is Windows 10 the last ever version of Windows? No, not at all. The retiring OS system was released back in 2015, and it has been a popular operating system with more than a billion users, reaching 82.5% market share by December 2021.
There is a lot of love out there for the Windows 10 experience. It introduced Microsoft’s Edge web browser, as well as a whole ecosystem of responsive apps designed around giving the user increased functionality, with a more personal experience. It will be missed.
But times change, Windows 11 will now be the front and centre operating system, and users of Windows 10, can upgrade to Windows 11 if their computer has the capacity to do so.
However, don’t panic if you are using Windows 10 currently, all the programs that you currently use will continue to work. Microsoft is going to offer Extended Security Updates (ESU’s), a pay-for-support service to Windows 10 users, until 2028. Like the support offered for Windows 7, the earlier operating system, it’s likely to be a yearly subscription. Information about just how much the updates will cost has yet to be released by Microsoft.
As for Windows 12, there have been lots of rumours around a possible release date later this year, but nothing as yet has been confirmed by Microsoft.
