2021 has been a truly fabulous year for CNC. As a company, we are
now officially 25 years old. And what a spectacular 25 years it
has been. We have seen some incredible changes over the years in
our business world of computer use and the problems therein, from
floppy disks to thumb drives, disk storage, to the magic of the
cloud.
The internet back in 1996, had around 30 million users in the world
and ran at 56k on a modem. Today, 4.66 billion (65% of the world's
population) have access to the internet and speeds up to 1,000 Mbps
are now the new norm. To put that into perspective - some of the
files that you download today would have taken a week in 1996.
Computer viruses might have started in the ’70s, but they
were pretty fiendish by the ’90s, and now we have to contend
with brute force DDoS attacks! Computer screens that took up half
your desk, to the super-thin widescreens of today. Snake and Minesweeper
was all the rage then, now we have super immersive virtual reality.
Back in 1996, Microsoft Word used to have a helpful little paper
clip character to answer all your Microsoft Word related questions,
or you could Ask Jeeves. Yes, it's been a crazy technological ride,
and quite what the future holds, who knows what the next big thing
will be?
But whatever the IT demands of doing business will be; not only
are we looking forward to the next 25 years and what they might
hold, but we are looking forward to sharing them with you, keeping
your company and team secure, supported and future-proofed. YOU,
your business, your team have brought to us some pretty amazing
projects over the years, it has been absolutely fantastic to work
alongside you and help you get the very best out of your IT.
This may be the final newsletter of 2021, but please keep sending
in your questions so that we can put them in our newsletter and
answer them. We hope that you have picked up some useful and helpful
information along the way.
From all of us at CNC we would very much like to take this opportunity
to share a big thank you for allowing us to look after your IT.
Looking forward to seeing you in 2022.
We wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a fabulous
New Year. |
