Welcome to our CNC newsletter.

Welcome to our summer newsletter. We hope you are enjoying the heatwave!

This month we explain how CNC can help you move over to an Internet based telephone system if you have not already done so. And we explain why this is a good idea, especially since BT have announced that they are withdrawing support for the traditional PSTN and ISDN networks by 2025.

Cyber crime continues to be a major threat to all businesses. Our recommended protection provider SonicWALL has recently released a report on the state of cyber crime over the past 12 months. Read the highlights below. If you're worried that you're not doing enough to prevent your business being attacked by cyber criminals do get in touch. We can help put your mind at rest.

If you would like more information on updating your business phone system, protecting your precious business systems and data from cyber crime, or any of our other products or services, do get in touch on 01273 384100 or email us at sales@cnc-ltd.co.uk.

The Future is VOIP, and SIP!

Voice Over Internet Phone (VOIP) has grown massively over the past few years. This is because of the extra flexibility it provides and its lower cost compared to traditional telephone systems. Plus BT's recent announcement that they are withdrawing the traditional PSTN and ISDN network by 2025.

CNC can offer both Cloud based phone systems and on-premises systems using 3CX. These are both voice over the internet phone systems which do not use traditional PSTN or ISDN lines.

PSTN is the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and ISDN is the Integrated Services Digital Network, a set of communication standards for simultaneous digital transmission of voice, video and data.

VOIP systems use the internet to make and receive calls. Now that the fibre infrastructure is widely available VOIP has become the most reliable and affordable way for small and medium size businesses to have their own telephone system. This means that internet based solutions are replacing the traditional On-Premise PBX phone system for businesses.

As well as VOIP there is also now SIP.

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) provides even more flexibility and functionality than VOIP. SIP uses a phone line which is carried over your fibre internet connection, removing the need for an ISDN phone line.

A SIP cloud phone system, or hosted PBX as it's also known, has many advantages over traditional phone systems. Features include:

  • Call recording
  • Call monitoring
  • Video calls
  • Conference calls
  • Interactive voice response (or IVR) - automating your call handling

There's even a fax to email service for those olde worlde occasions when only a fax will do!

We are happy to discuss these options with you and to give you a demonstration. Don't hesitate to contact us on 01273 384100 or email us at sales@cnc-ltd.co.uk.

2018 Report Reveals Increasing Level of Cyber Attacks

SonicWALL, a well-established provider of anti cyber crime solutions, have recently released their latest Cyber Threat Report.

This in-depth report analyses the latest threats and cyberattack behaviour over the last 12 months. SonicWALL also publish an on-line threat meter to give the very latest monthly information. This can be accessed here.

  • There has been a 102% year-to-date increase in the volume of Malware over 2017
  • SonicWALL's Real-Time Deep Memory Inspection technology has blocked more than 12,300 never-before-seen cyberattacks since January 2018
  • Cryptojacking is here. This is cybercriminals compiling a network of random computers to form a botnet that can illegally "mine" for cryptocurrency. One of the tools they use to affect the computer is called Coinhive. SonicWALL has recorded more than 5.6million hits of Coinhive in use since January 2018.

SonicWall has been fighting the cybercriminal industry for over 26 years, protecting small to medium-sized businesses and enterprises across the world with their prevention and detection tools. Their award-winning Capture Cloud Platform is the only safe way to protect your network from these cybercriminals.

This is why CNC only recommends SonicWALL Firewall, as it has done for the past 22 years.

If you would like to read the full detailed report you can access this here.
